What factors have led to young "men" in their 20's being perceived as something less than grown-ups?

its the new generation and theres more technology and everything. Plus the economy is bad soo most people in their 20s are still living with their parents bc of lack of work. Also kids are doing drugs at younger and younger ages. And doing drugs prevents you from maturing mentally. Thats my theory.
